COUNTY HEALTH DEPARTMENT DRAFTS M&E FRAMEWORK FOCUSED ON SOCIAL ACCOUNTABILITY

Kakuma – 19th July, 2024 (Public Communication and Media Relations)

The County Health Department and Sanitation has developed a draft monitoring and evaluation (M&E) framework aimed at enhancing healthcare service provision through a responsive system that incorporates residents’ feedback.

Led by the Directorate of Policy, Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation (PPME) and supported by Amref Health Africa in Kenya’s USAID Ugongozi ya Afya Thabiti, the 10-year framework is expected to help the department continuously improve its services across all levels.

The Director for PPME, James Lobokan, stated that the framework demonstrates the county health department’s commitment to promoting accountability.

“The document will also enhance collaborative monitoring of the county health service delivery by all stakeholders,” he said.

He emphasized that the document, aligned with the proposed Turkana County 2022-2032 County Health Sectoral Plan, will assist in the implementation of health services by facilitating evidence-based planning.

Deputy Director for Partnership, Nancy Kiyonge, mentioned that once validated, the document would be disseminated to stakeholders, including healthcare workers, for utilization.

A representative from the International Rescue Committee, Mark Esekon, noted that the framework was an important resource for health system strengthening.

Other partner representatives included members from the Diocese of Lodwar and Amref Health Africa in Kenya.
