The County Government of Turkana conducted a training session for administrators from Turkana South and Aroo sub-counties, aimed at enhancing governance at the grassroots level. The training focused on public service ethics, personal development, career progression, and effective duty execution.

Administrators, who represent the office of the Governor at the grassroots, play a critical role in implementing government programs and policies at the sub-county, ward, and village levels.

Their work is essential in ensuring efficient delivery of government services to the community.

Chief Officer for Administration and Disaster Risk Management, David Maraka, emphasized that the training was designed to equip administrators with the necessary knowledge and skills for ethical governance and improved service delivery.

“Good performance by administrators will attract positive public attention and could lead to promotions,” Maraka noted, urging the officials to apply the knowledge gained in their daily work.

Maraka also hinted at upcoming promotions for administrators who demonstrate exemplary performance, noting that top-level administrators at the ward and sub-county levels have already benefited from the program.

Director of Administration, Chris Locheria, underscored the importance of administrators understanding their roles and functions. He called for joint operations with all officers at the grassroots level and stressed that the office of the sub-county administrator should be respected as the lead authority in the region.

The training aligns with the Governor’s push to roll out a staff motivation program aimed at improving the welfare of all county staff.

Participants expressed appreciation for the training, acknowledging its relevance to their day-to-day responsibilities.

During the training sessions, CHRP Peter Kebo and sub County administrators, Alfred Lomodei (Aroo) and Simon Koloi (Turkana South) made presentations.
