County government officials participated in a sensitization workshop organised by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) to refine a Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) tool developed in March 2021.
The workshop aimed to familiarize the county officers with the tool’s progress and make necessary amendments ahead of its finalization later this year.
Once developed, the tool will consolidate agricultural data across all sub-sectors and sub-counties and enable data-driven decision-making in real time.
The county Director of Agriculture, Aaron Nanok, emphasised on the need to monitor and evaluate interventions regarding food security. He added that the data collected would guide decision-making and long term planning for effective implementation of food security projects.
FAO’s Head of M&E, Kaari Miriti, highlighted that the tool would enhance policy formulation and accountability in the agricultural sector.
“With 90% of the output level complete, the tool will come in handy to measure the impact of the system in various sectors in the County,” he said
The FAO team led by project head, Ambrose Ngetich, clarified that while they developed the system, the County Government would maintain full control of the servers to ensure data quality.
Chief Officers Janerose Tioko (Agriculture and Land reclamation) and Pauline Tangarae (Trade), County Directors Bobby Ekadon (Livestock Production), Benson Long’or (Veterinary Services), John Ekaru (M&E) and Ag. Deputy Fisheries John Bett also attended the workshop.
UN Coordination Specialist Susan Aletia and her team also participated, focusing on ensuring smooth implementation and integrity in data collection.
