Turkana County has taken a significant step towards enhancing resource mobilization and coordination by hosting a 3-day multi-sectoral round table workshop. The event, organized in collaboration with the UN Resident Coordinator Office (UNRCO) and supported by UNHCR and VNG International, brought together key stakeholders to discuss the county’s development challenges and opportunities.
The workshop aimed to strengthen coordination among government agencies, development partners, and local communities. Participants discussed strategies to avoid duplication of efforts, optimize resource allocation, and align programming with the County Integrated Development Plan (CIDP).
County Secretary Peter Eripete highlighted the importance of collaborative efforts to ensure effective service delivery. “This workshop is crucial for strengthening our coordination and ensuring that our resources are utilized effectively to benefit the people of Turkana,” he said.
Susan Aletia, UN Coordination Specialist at UNRCO emphasized the need to prioritize social sectors like water, agriculture, and healthcare for sustainable development. She encouraged stakeholders to leverage shared frameworks like SHIRIKA and KISEDP to streamline efforts.
The workshop will contribute to the development of the County Government of Turkana’s Resource Mobilization and Investment Strategy, which aims to attract investment and enhance the county’s capacity to deliver essential services.
