The Turkana County Executive Committee Member (CECM) for Trade, Cooperatives, Gender and Youth Affairs, Roseline Aite, hosted a delegation from the International Finance Corporation (IFC) to discuss the establishment of a Kakuma Biashara Huduma Centre Committee.
The Committee will spearhead efforts to integrate huduma service delivery into the program. This committee will be constituted in the next few months.
The IFC team briefed the CECM on its broader engagements in Turkana County, particularly on its efforts to create a conducive environment for business and investment, with focus on sectors providing essential services to the local communities.
CECM Aite acknowledged that IFC’s involvement contributes significantly to enterprise development and investment promotion in Kakuma.
She emphasized the county’s commitment to fast-tracking the Investment Promotion and Corporation Bill, 2024, which is currently awaiting public participation in the County Assembly.
IFC’s Consultant, Felix Kariuki outlined its key interventions in Turkana, including initiatives in trade, investment, industry, and insurance, spanning to both the private and public sectors.
“Biashara Huduma Centre is a collaborative effort to facilitate these interventions and improve livelihoods through business,” he noted.
In attendance were Wilson Ejiye (Deputy Director, Trade), and Peter Lolem (IFC Liaison Officer).
