Lorengippi, 12th November 2022 (Governor’s Press Service)- Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai this morning visited Lorengippi area of Lokiriama/Lorengippi Ward to monitor and coordinate the ongoing distribution of County emergency relief food distribution.
A total of 651 households benefited from today’s distribution of assorted food that targeted Kambi safi, Soweto, Lorengippi centre and Nakwayait sub-villages in Lorengippi village unit. Each household received one bag of maize (50kgs), 10kgs of beans and 3 litres of cooking oil.
Addressing a Public Baraza before the distribution exercise, Governor Lomorukai said the County Government had procured enough food and increased the distribution ratio to sustain the drought-affected families for a longer period.
He assured wananchi that his administration was action-oriented and had begun implementing pre-election pledges as a way of repaying the trust and confidence that residents had placed in the County Government.
The County boss used the opportunity to thank the residents of Lorengippi for supporting him during the election and promised to work with all elected leaders irrespective of their political affiliation to find a long-lasting solution to the many challenges experienced in Turkana County. He said his administration will prioritize local-based businesses in the county procurement process and urged residents to register companies in groups to be able to benefit from Government tenders.
Lokiriama/Lorengippi MCA Lopayo Lomuria lauded the County Government’s emergency response and encouraged residents not to misuse the relief food. Lokichoggio MCA Vincent Ekipor vowed to work with the county and support Governor Napotikan’s development agenda for the benefit of the people.
Acting County Chief Officer for Public Service Chris Locheria and Acting County Director for Disaster and Risk management Moses Nawoton accompanied the Governor.
